Chocolate Caramel Slice

I found this recipe in my friends grand childrens school cook book its absolutely scrumptious

Prep time:   10 minutes
Cook time:   30 minutes
Servings:   Makes about 24 slices

Ingredients:
BASE
220g Butter
1/2 cup Icing Sugar
1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence
2 cups Plain Flour

CARAMEL Topping
2Tbs Golden Syrup
1 tin Sweetened Condensed Milk
50g Butter

Directions:
Preheat oven to 180c and grease a flat tin. Combine butter and icing sugar, add vanilla essence and flour. Mix until resembles a crumbly mixture. Press into a flat tin. Bake for 18-20mins or until golden brown.

Combine in a pot and melt: sweetened condensed milk, golden syrup, and butter stir until butter has melted but keep an eye on mixture as it burns easily. Take slice out of oven when cooked and pour mixture on top and bake for another 10min. Ice with chocolate icing when cold.
