perfection i made these for my grandchildren and they loved them you can make them big or small just takes less time cooking for small. I did not add the white sugar just the brown as there is far to much sugar in all bakeing today.they tasted just as nice with less sugar thank you so much for this recipe.

Very nice, I used baking powder instead of soda (always do if possible because I hate the yucky metallic aftertaste of soda)

I am living abroad and have really enjoyed having my own 'cookie time' like cookies to share with friends over here. They do make enormous cookies and they are lovely and thick - I have even made large chocolate blocks to break and put in, just like the bought ones. They deserve 10/10!

tamsila ...NO baking soda and baking powder are not the same!
Sanusha ...you could try making sure your cookie dough is really firm, so a little less butter (make sure it's butter your using and not margarine).

Absolutely the best recipe ever. I freeze half the recipe in rolls to be made up quickly when we run out. Note the defrosted mix doesn't tend to spread as far and makes a small firm cookie. Davine!

Well, I am one of the flatmates of the below-comment author. I feel obliged to mention that our lovely cook is actually a geologist working in a natural disaster oriented dept at Uni... which explains the semantic field used in his comment. Your subductionnal message about cleaning was really sneaky bru' no? I'll have to bake more of these cookies myself at least as much as the size of the Sphinx ter' make you clean the house then!
But I must admit that these are high level cookies! PS my flattie used Whittaker's dark ghana... perfect... (looks like this amazing ad worked on us!)
      keep on cookying

Yes I concur...these cookies provide a taste and texture comparable to the much loved Cookie Time cookie biscuit. If i didnt have such a busy schedule I would go into full time production of cookies and sell them as 'Cookie O'clock'.

I also had a similar experience, when under heat and temperature the mixture metamorphs into a 'molten lava' like state (mate) and if not adequately contained to the baking tray will threaten to inundate your oven with cookie mixture. If you are fortunate enough to prevent this from happening, then all the wee little cute cookies wookies will join forces to form one huge giant cookie which can then cause havoc and destruction within the kitchen unless it is swiftly dealt to with a knife and consumed on site...But that is just the way the cookie crumbles.

My flat mates loved this recipe, and it should get me out of cleaning, house hold chores for maybe a couple weeks.

      Highly recommend recipe!!

These are great, Makes around 30 but they do tend to spread. The trick is to beat butter and sugar until JUST fluffy . I might try half shortening and half butter to see if they hold up better next time.

great biscuits! was hard for me to get them from undercooked to just right though and they are very easily burned. 9 minutes was a great time for me.

Here's my tip: use a measuring teaspoon to scoop out the cookie mixture (leveled flat). It makes cute little biscuits and all your cookies will be the same size. This cookie mix tends to spread a little once in the oven, so make sure you leave some space between each one on your baking tray.

They really do taste like Cookie Time biscuits!!! YUM!
I used a block of Cadbury Old Gold (Mildly Dark) chopped up for my choc chips, worked really well! Made the biscuits taste more like authentic Cookie Times.
I creamed the butter and sugar for about 10min tho so I wouldn't say 10min prep time is correct for the whole recipe!!
The biscuits did merge together on the tray though lol but no big deal!!
      GREAT RECIPE :D
