New Zealand and Christchurch tourism have been savaged by a series of earthquakes since September 4 but the accolades just announced by Trip Advisor for Akaroa are a huge boost to the battered region.

  • Auckland Has Everything
    Submitted by wordofmouth on 1309905295
0Poor Auckland: they’ve been missing out. None of Wellington’s fierce winds; no Central Otago frosts; and it no Christchurch’s earthquakes -- well, that’s not entirely true. The very weekend I spend in Auckland a 2.9 earthquake gently rattles over its sub-tropical suburbs. It’s a talking point at the French markets in Parnell the next morning.

  • Surfing New Zealand
    Submitted by WOWSURF on 1325471451
0There is something about the sport of Surfing that is unlike any other pursuit in the world. It combines one of the most beautiful & unpredictable elements we know - the ocean, with simple human strength of body and mind. As world populations expand and the popular sport of surfing builds, New Zealand is becoming one of the best places on earth to learn to surf. Why? Because we have such a variety of surf breaks to choose from, there are well over 470 and a relatively small population of people, which means that there is more space and therefore a friendlier vibe for our beginners to build their skills.

The Luck at Last Mine walk is 7km north of Whangamata , a pleasent and easy 50-60 minute walk each way through forest, and bush, following a stream to old mining relics.

  • Queenstown is like a Seductive Magnet
    Submitted by wordofmouth on 1331356921
0It’s like a dream come true. My dawn charter flight makes its final approach into Queenstown Airport which has just been voted among the best approaches in the world. This spectacular New Zealand resort is the adventure capital of the world and I am blown away by the summer scenery. It’s no wonder Queenstown with its magnificent scenery and high octane activities is ranked eighth on Lonely Planet's list of top 10 places in the world to visit this year. Queenstown is no longer just a winter skiing destination. It offers fuel-injected fun all summer long.
