    I've just seen one settled on our rose bush in Titirangi, Auckland. Same kind, black & white striped body & two wide white 'stripes' on it's back, behind it's head. Biggest dragonfly I've ever seen. Over 10 cm long, & a wingspan maybe as wide. They must surely be our biggest flying insect?
