This photo of Nelson was taken almost at the top of the Centre of New Zealand track. This is a great track to walk to see panoramic views of Nelson and Tasman Bay. The top of Botanical Hill is reached by a moderately easy track, commonly referred to as the "Zigzag", winding up the southwest face. There is a monument at the top that designates the geographical centre of New Zealand, however the actual Geocentre is in the Spooner Range, about 55 kilometres southwest of here.
