Shambhala has a variety of accommodation available. The main house has two share rooms (4 beds each) and a double, all with shared facilities. Another building up on the hill has four doubles/twins, with a separate kitchen. All rooms come with made-up beds (no bunks), and stunning views over the bay!

The main house has a comfortable lounge area with a fire-place and an interesting collection of English, Japanese and German language books. There is also a selection of board games, as well as a guitar and a piano for music lovers. On the verandah you can relax on a couch while admiring the panoramic ocean views. The spacious gardens are lovely to wander around, and the gazebo is a perfect spot for a BBQ-night under the stars.

Shambhala guest-house offers backpacker-style accommodation. In winter time we offer different kinds of yoga and meditation retreats. Groups are also welcome to use Shambhala in winter time.

Shambhala is 16 kms from Takaka towards Collingwood. Turn off from Highway 60, a 100 m before the Mussel Inn pub, where our sign is.

  Shambhala is truly an amazing place with lovely beach. I went there or one night, ended up staying there for two weeks. It has great meditation /yoga space. I had a glass of wine at the tea house, overlooking the sea. What a gorgeous experience!!
