The Palazzo combines an ambience which is elegant and at the same time intimate, friendly and warm. The decor features wood paneling, stained glass windows and mirrors. The wooden tables with their leather table mats and large linen napkins combine with the candlelight and flowers to give a feeling of luxury.
Our guests enjoy soft background music which ranges from classical to light jazz, as well as live entertainment.
Our cuisine is best described as New Zealand's Best Fresh Seafood prepared in the Italian way as well as house pasta, venison, lamb, beef, chicken, rabbit, vegetables and fruit.
Our new function area on the top floor can be used for private functions; set up theatre style it can seat 200 while as a dining room it seats 125. It is perfect for weddings, parties, conferences and cocktail parties with finger food served on trays. The two private rooms are suitable for private family parties or lunch meetings.
Importantly both floors have access by lift for our less able bodied friends.

Comments / Reviews of Palazzo del Marinaio
Palazzo Restaurant has been around for quite a long time. It was one of my favourite restaurants when I used to live in Christchurch so I decided to revisit it this week while visiting my old home town, and I'm glad I did! The service was really outstanding, from the nice greeting when we walked in the door, and hot towels once we were seated and then throughout the night. The food was delicious! We shared the seafood crepes for entree, which I would highly recommend. For my main I had the whole fish (flounder) cooked in olive oil, garlic and lemon and it was superb! Perfectly cooked and presented. My husband enjoyed his Spaghetti Marinara. For dessert we shared the Creme Caramel (the largest I have ever had) and the Bigne alla Cioccolata which is choux pastry filled with ice cream, cream and topped with a dark chocolate and rum sauce. Both were great but the choux pastry was my favourite. In summary, the food at Palazzo is really good classic Italian dishes, and good size portions. I also thought that the prices at Palazzo were very reasonable given that it is a fresh seafood restaurant and located in the central city. Two thumbs up!
