Tucked away on Harley St, Mint Dining Room offered us a premiere culinary experience in a beautifully simple, intimate setting (maximum seating 24).

Our group of 4 started with sugar cured salmon, Canter Valley duck and a hazelnut & tomato tart. Beautifully presented mouth watering deliciousness.

For mains, we couldn't look past the saffron braised snapper (even better than it sounds) and slow roasted lamb featuring a trio of tender treats.

Such a great meal is never complete without (over)indulging your sweet tooth, so we finished off with bitter chocolate pudding, ginger parkin and a selection of icecreams & sorbets.

The impressive wine list is dominated by local vineyards, keeping in sync with the philosophy of locally sourced ingredients.

High end dining and worth every cent.

    I love this restaurant.

If you know anything about Nelson eateries you will know that the same two places take the fine dining awards each year (I won't mention them for fairness to Mint ). I am convinced that this is set to change with the emergence of Mint.

The atmosphere is ridiculously romantic and initimate. The dining experience is pleasant and uncluttered, it is peaceful and calming. The food is sublime.

The wine list has been carefully selected and the service includes recommendations...

Mint also caters for us notoriously difficult GF crowd, make it clear when you book though and booking is essential, by the way.

This is not budget dining and it shouldn't be... save your pennies it's worth it! Judging by their website they are planning some early evening cheaper dining experiences though. And I am getting ready to book for their degustation menu in September.

I have recommended Mint to so many people and not one of them has been disappointed.
