Altitude 585 has been designed to cater for anyone who loves atmosphere backed up by years of hospitality experience, friendliness, service, great food, wine, cocktails, premium spirits, music, audio visual, regular events, comfort, warmth and of course the breathtaking view of Mount Ruapehu.

Altitude 585 resembles a log cabin type lodge you would expect to see in Aspen Colorado or Whistler Blackcomb. It was built around an historic school house which is over 100 years old. The view is best seen on the deck or from inside on one of our many lounges. The large long wooden bar ensures you never have to wait long to be served.

The outstanding menu reflects the wonderful local produce and ingredients on offer and is designed to be fresh, simple and similar to that of a French Bistro.

Comfort is paramount at Altitude 585 with over 20 couches seating over 50 all well within the warmth from the 2 fireplaces, in the large louge area. Altitude 585 offers plenty of bar seating and the restaurant seats up to 80. Bookings are only taken for groups of 10 or more by phone or online.

They also have a daily happy hour, cocktail of the week and complimentary pass around nibbles after the mountain is closed.
