Extreme Backpackers is ideally placed for easy access to startlingly varied terrain which provides great scope for all manner of activities. Turangi itself is situated on the world famous Tongariro River on the final stretch before it flows into the southern end of Lake Taupo. And, of course, just to the south-west is the National Park.

All rooms at Extreme Backpackers have heating, and come with bedding, except for the dormitories where bedding is available for a small charge should you require it. There are separate facilities for gents and ladies, but you can save yourself the early morning dash by taking an en-suite room.

The dormitory rooms are the cheapest option, and are best for groups of friends, or individuals. We have dormitories that can sleep 4 or 8 people with 2 and 4 sets of bunks respectively.

There are also twins for the "just friends", doubles for the couples, and doubles with bunks for the families.
