Altura Park is situated amongst limestone formations just 4 kms from the famous Waitomo Caves. We have all together 85 different varieties of friendly birds and animals in our 20 acre wildlife park. There is loads of interaction and feeding of the birds and animals.

After a friendly greeting as you enter the park from Bud Bud the sulphur crested cockatoo, you can then mingle and interact with the friendly ducks, emus, deer, chooks, goats, rabbits, donkeys, mini horses, guinea pigs, blue tongued lizards and more. Depending on the season, baby calves, lambs and fawns often need a bottle.

There is loads of room for picnics, weddings, birthday parties, family and friends getting together etc. There are free pony rides for children on our Welsh Mountain Pony and a great playground.

Other birds and animals in the park include bison, Scottish Highland cattle, llamas, ostriches, a fantastic selection of pheasants and parrots, turtles, swans and peacocks. Visitors can also venture inside the large landscaped nocturnal Owl house.

Altura Park is a gorgeous well maintained family farm and is not highly commercial. Everyone, young or old, can get involved in the farming activities if they choose and...

    we went here last weekend for our grandsons 4th birthday and had the most excellent experience, our grandsons thoroughly enjoyed looking and feeding some of the animals with there own little bag of animal food , also having the opportunity to ride the ponies and and interacting with rabbits, lizard they have a awesome play area where they have swings, slides and so much more, it was so cool seeing animals such as goats, pigs, birds, sheep, ponies, and so much more, highly recommend and defiantly will be going back. thank you for giving a little boy a great birthday one he will never forget
